Window Pain

You wait, a moment is eternity, face pressed to the glass
Standing there, all alone, eyes blur the cars that pass

Your heart transforms, as seconds fly, doom it seems looms near
empty-yet heavier, beating – yet deader, a stone of pain and fear

The voices you hear out on the street bring hope that leaves you high
Each time you see, it’s not him, the feeling quickly dies

Is he safe, just running late, soon home – safe and sound
Is he hurt and bleeding, and help can not be found

Or maybe he is gone this time, never to return
Window pain, searing deep, a constant aching burn
